5S & 6S Red Tags

Support the Sort stage of 5S and 6S workplace organisation with our range of red tags, designed to help identify items that may be unnecessary, misplaced, unused or in need of review.

Red tagging is a practical visual management technique used within 5S to identify items that are not required in their current location. Once tagged, equipment, materials, tools or other workplace items can be assessed and a decision made on whether they should be retained, relocated, stored elsewhere or removed from the workplace.

Our 6S Red Tags provide a simple and highly visible way to support this process. Each tag measures 80 x 150mm and is supplied with cable ties, allowing items to be clearly identified and marked during workplace organisation activities.

Using red tags can help teams create a more controlled and consistent approach to the Sort principle of 5S. Rather than allowing unnecessary items to remain in work areas, red tagging provides a clear visual indication that an item requires attention. This can help reduce clutter, improve workplace visibility and make it easier to establish what should and should not be present in a designated area.

Red tagging is particularly useful in factories, warehouses, workshops, manufacturing facilities, engineering environments, production areas and maintenance workplaces where large quantities of tools, equipment and materials may accumulate over time.

As part of a wider 5S or 6S workplace organisation system, red tags can be used alongside shadow boards, cleaning stations, PPE stations, 5S & 6S posters and other visual management products. Together, these solutions help establish clear standards for workplace organisation and make deviations from those standards easier to identify.

The red tagging process can also contribute to the Standardise and Sustain stages of 5S by helping teams establish a repeatable method for reviewing workplace items and maintaining organised working areas over time.

Whether you are introducing a new 5S workplace organisation programme, implementing 6S or improving an established lean workplace system, red tags provide a straightforward visual tool for identifying items that require review.
