Information, Advantages, Considerations & Best Uses
Rigid Plastic
A versatile, lightweight and durable signage material with a smooth, glossy white surface. Rigid plastic offers good impact resistance and is suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications.
Advantages: Lightweight, durable, weather resistant, easy to drill and economical for many applications.
Considerations: Less premium in appearance than aluminium or acrylic and can be more susceptible to physical damage than heavier-duty metal substrates.
Best for: General safety signs, information signs, warehouse signage, identification signs and everyday indoor or outdoor applications.
Reflective
Reflective signage uses a retroreflective surface designed to return light towards its source, making signs significantly more visible when illuminated by vehicle headlights or other light sources.
Available in different reflective grades, including RA1 engineering grade and R2 high-intensity grade, depending on the application.
Advantages: Excellent night-time visibility, ideal for traffic and roadside applications, and available in different grades and substrates.
Considerations: Generally unnecessary for standard indoor signage and can cost more than a conventional non-reflective sign.
Best for: Traffic signs, car parks, entrances, external roads, industrial estates and locations where visibility in darkness is important.
Tip: The correct reflective grade should be selected according to the sign’s intended application rather than simply choosing the most reflective option available.
Quick Fix
Quick Fix is our rigid plastic signage with self-adhesive backing. The adhesive backing allows the sign to be applied directly to a suitable smooth, clean surface without drilling, screws or additional fixings.
Advantages: Fast installation, no drilling required, clean appearance, lightweight and convenient for areas where permanent mechanical fixings are undesirable.
Considerations: Requires a suitable smooth, clean and dry surface. Adhesive performance may be reduced on rough, dirty, damp or unsuitable surfaces.
Best for: Doors, walls, corridors, offices, warehouses, room identification, wayfinding and general internal signage.
Best choice when: You want a professional-looking rigid sign but need a simple, tool-free installation method.
PVC Banners
PVC banners are a flexible, hard-wearing signage solution designed for temporary or semi-permanent applications. They can be supplied with suitable finishing and fixing options for hanging, attaching or securing the banner in position.
Advantages: Flexible, weather resistant, easy to transport and store, suitable for large-format graphics and practical for temporary installations.
Considerations: Not as rigid or premium-looking as aluminium or acrylic and may require additional fixing or support depending on the installation.
Best for: Construction sites, events, seasonal promotions, temporary warnings, fencing, hoardings and large-format temporary signage.
PET (Thermoplastic Polyester)
PET is a durable, lightweight signage material offering good resistance to moisture, chemicals and UV exposure. It combines strength with relatively easy handling and is a fully recyclable material.
Advantages: Durable, impact resistant, lightweight, suitable for indoor and outdoor environments and fully recyclable.
Considerations: May not provide the same premium appearance as anodised aluminium, brass or acrylic for prestige applications.
Best for: General signage, industrial environments, outdoor information signs and projects where durability and recyclability are important.
5mm Foam
5mm foam provides a lightweight yet relatively rigid signage solution. It is easy to cut, drill and handle and is particularly useful when a large sign is required without the weight of a heavier substrate.
Advantages: Very lightweight, economical, easy to cut and drill, waterproof and suitable for large-format boards.
Considerations: Not as impact resistant as solid plastics or metal and generally better suited to information boards and large signs than areas subject to heavy physical contact.
Best for: Large site safety boards, information boards, temporary displays and lightweight wall-mounted signage.
Recyclable Fluted Polypropylene
A lightweight corrugated plastic material which offers a practical combination of durability, water resistance and low cost. The material is classed as PP5 and is fully recyclable.
Advantages: Lightweight, economical, waterproof, easy to handle and 100% recyclable.
Considerations: The fluted construction is less rigid and premium-looking than solid plastic, aluminium or acrylic.
Best for: Temporary signage, construction sites, promotional signs, festival signage and budget-conscious projects.
Best choice when: Cost, low weight and recyclability are more important than a premium finish.
External Floor Graphic
A specialist external floor graphic material designed for application to walking and driving surfaces. The material offers R12 slip resistance and is designed to withstand demanding external environments.
Advantages: High slip resistance, durable adhesive system, suitable for asphalt, concrete, stone, metal and other external surfaces.
Considerations: Requires careful surface preparation and installation. Best used where a floor graphic is specifically required rather than as a general-purpose signage material.
Best for: Pedestrian wayfinding, safety graphics, branded flooring, car parks, entrances, loading areas and external promotional graphics.
Brass
Brass provides a distinctive, premium appearance with a substantial, professional feel. Its warm metallic finish makes it particularly suited to high-end or prestige environments.
Advantages: Premium appearance, highly durable, strong visual impact and a distinctive finish which can complement high-end interiors and buildings.
Considerations: Typically more expensive than standard plastics and may be unnecessary for purely functional industrial signage.
Best for: Prestige buildings, corporate offices, hotels, reception areas, heritage properties and high-end facilities where appearance matters alongside functionality.
Braille & Tactile (2-Ply)
Braille and tactile signage provides raised lettering, symbols and Braille to make information accessible through touch. Our 2-ply construction is designed with sub-surface inserted Braille dots to reduce the risk of individual dots becoming detached.
Advantages: Supports accessible communication, suitable for tactile identification, robust construction and appropriate for environments where inclusive signage is required.
Considerations: Generally more specialised and therefore more expensive than standard flat printed signage.
Best for: Room identification, accessible wayfinding, toilet signs, lifts, stairways, public buildings, offices, healthcare, education and commercial premises.
Important: Accessibility signage should be designed and installed in accordance with the requirements applicable to the intended building and application.
Anodised Aluminium
Anodised aluminium is a premium signage material offering a combination of durability, strength and a clean satin-metallic appearance. Unlike painted steel, aluminium will not rust.
Advantages: Strong, lightweight, corrosion resistant, professional appearance, suitable for demanding environments and fully recyclable.
Considerations: More expensive than basic plastic materials and may not be necessary for simple temporary signage.

5mm Acrylic
5mm cast acrylic provides a clean, contemporary and premium-looking signage surface. Its smooth finish gives signage a polished appearance particularly suited to modern commercial environments.
Advantages: Premium appearance, strong visual quality, good resistance to weathering and discolouration, easy to maintain and fully recyclable.
Considerations: More expensive than standard plastics and can be more vulnerable to scratching or impact than metal signage.

2-Ply Plastic
2-ply plastic consists of two contrasting coloured layers. The upper layer can be engraved to reveal the contrasting layer beneath, creating highly legible and permanent lettering or graphics.
Advantages: Excellent contrast, durable, resistant to moisture, heat, UV exposure and many chemicals, low maintenance and highly customisable.
Considerations: The engraved appearance is different from a conventional full-colour printed sign and may not be suitable where photographic or complex colour graphics are required.
Best for: Equipment identification, control panels, machinery labels, room identification, industrial environments and durable engraved signage.
Ultra Bright Self Adhesive Vinyl
A flexible photoluminescent self-adhesive vinyl designed to remain highly visible in low-light and blackout conditions. It is particularly suited to emergency escape applications.
Advantages: Flexible, self-adhesive, quick to apply, no additional fixings required and provides energy-free visibility after exposure to light.
Considerations: Being flexible vinyl, it does not provide the rigid feel or impact resistance of a solid sign substrate.
Best for: Emergency escape routes, doors, walls, corridors, stairways and locations where signs need to remain visible during power failure or blackout conditions.

Ultra Bright Rigid Plastic
A rigid photoluminescent plastic signage solution designed to provide excellent visibility in low-light and blackout conditions while retaining the strength and rigidity of a conventional sign.
Advantages: Rigid, durable, excellent low-light visibility, energy-free afterglow and suitable for permanent installation.

Synthetic Paper
Synthetic paper is a high-density polyethylene-based material providing a paper-like appearance while offering significantly greater resistance to water and grease than conventional paper.

Self Adhesive Vinyl
Self Adhesive Vinyl (SAV) is a flexible vinyl material with an adhesive backing that can be applied directly to suitable smooth, clean and dry surfaces.
Advantages: Quick and easy to apply, lightweight, flexible, no drilling required and excellent for applying graphics directly onto existing surfaces.
Considerations: Adhesion depends heavily on surface condition and preparation. It does not provide the rigidity or physical protection of a board-based material.
Best for: Warehouse labelling, wall graphics, wayfinding, room identification, doors, glass and other smooth internal surfaces.
Best choice when: You need the graphic or message applied directly onto an existing surface rather than mounted as a rigid sign.
